My Stretches and Tightness
Wednesday - February 09 ,2011 Filed in: Journal

Ohhh! What I wouldn’t do to stretch like this beautiful creature. Stretching is so important to your body. It improves your flexibility, improves your strength, relaxes your muscles and your mind. After years of stretching and working out I have a pretty good idea of what area’s of my body need special attention, and I’m sure you do too.
The muscles on the front of my body tend to be tighter and more difficult to stretch than the muscles on the back of my body. I suppose it is from years of sitting at a desk working. So, I have to work really hard to stretch my chest and quadriceps. In order to stretch these hard to reach muscles I do:
- A corner stretch - where you find a corner and spread your arms on either wall and push your sternum toward the corner.
- Quadricep stretch by either holding my foot or putting it up on a bench behind me (which I prefer) and gently push my pelvis forward.
Another part of my body that you wouldn’t think would need stretching are my arches. I get awful cramps in my feet which are exaggerated when I point my toes. So, I have started sitting on my feet (which currently is painful). Over time the muscles should stop their constant contraction and my feet will feel like everyone else’s feet.
I plan to add some stretching routines to my exercises soon. So, stay tuned. If you have particularly difficult area’s or idea’s on stretches that work for you please share them with me.

My Paradoxical Sleep Habits
Wednesday - February 09 ,2011 Filed in: Journal

Well, yesterday’s blog was about making your sleeping experience its best. Most people know that I am a very disciplined sleeper. I wake at 3:30am (that is right I said AM) everyday. On the weekend I wake at between 4am and 5am (ask my husband). I go to bed every night by 9pm. Of course there are rare exceptions, but this is the routine I have developed.
Strangely, I am the first person to utter my well known phrase “Sleep is over rated”. I don’t come by that phrase lightly either. For may years I played in a band and routinely woke at 3:30 am on Friday morning and didn’t get to bed until 3:00 am Saturday morning.
For me the phrase about sleep is more around the fact that there is so much to be experienced in life that I don’t think anyone should forego any experience for the sake of sleep. I still believe that and will always stand by that phrase. But, if you want to operate on all cylinders you need to regulate your sleep which is why I am so disciplined on a regular basis.
If you have difficulty with your sleep you should try some of the idea’s on yesterday’s blog. Sleep really is important.
My Narcissist

Yes, I have my own Narcissist to deal with. She is always twisting my words and cornering and confronting me. It is a constant struggle. Something that makes me loath going to work. I have been working to tame my Narcissist though and with help I will eventually learn how to deal with her abuse.
Yesterday I managed to keep from being cornered into a conversation about an issue that was not a priority, but which she wanted to make into something HUGE!!! Nothing like a Narcissist to blow things out of proportion to feed their ego about how important and vital they are to the organization.
I was proud of my efforts. I managed to defuse the issue to the priority it deserved rather than giving her the audience she so desperately needed. I feel sorry for her though. It is disheartening and discouraging for me though because she plays people which makes it difficult for others to see her for who she really is. People who play into her maniacal behavior are treated with obvious favor and those, like me, who don’t buy her lies are not only treated with disdain, but ridiculed in front of an audience.
I keep telling myself it doesn’t matter, but it does. Life goes on and if I learn how to deal with her now I will learn how to deal with the next narcissist even better. That is the best twist I can put on the issue.
